A fascinating and wildly scenic tour of Sri Lanka, followed by a dreamy all-inclusive escape to the Maldives with seaplane transfers and the option of a romantic water villa

Day 1: Galle

Arrive in Colombo and proceed to Galle, where you'll check in to your hotel. After you've settled in, visit the 16th-century Galle Fort at sunset, a fascinating old city with a picturesque lighthouse, car-free streets and colonial-era architecture.

Distance from Bandaranaike International airport: 155km

Day 2: Galle - Udawalawe

Today, visit a turtle hatchery in Koggala en-route to Udawalawe. You'll have the option to enjoy a Jeep safari in Udawalawe National Park, a sanctuary for wildlife including the Sri Lankan elephant, leopards, wild boar, eagles and crocodiles (additional charge applies).

Distance from Galle: 130km

Day 3: Udawalawe - Haputale

Visit the Elephant Transit Home, a sanctuary for orphaned elephant calves, before lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to Haputale, visiting Haputale Railway Station on the way, and Haputale Bazaar in the evening.

Distance from Udawalawe: 100km

Day 4: Haputale - Kandy

Set off for Kandy, stopping for visits to Adisham Bungalow, the unique Seetha Amman temple and a city tour of Nuwara Eliya. Spend time at a tea factory in Ramboda, where delicate Ceylon is harvested in heart of lush Hill Country. Once in Kandy, one of Sri Lanka's most enchanting towns, you’ll discover the astounding Sacred Tooth Relic - one of the most important Buddhist sites in the world. Before the day is up, enjoy a cultural dance show at your hotel.

Distance from Haputale: 130km

Day 5: Kandy

In the morning, you’ll travel to Pilimathalawa, a suburb of Kandy, to visit the Traditional Dancer’s Home. En route, you’ll visit the Gem Museum and you'll have the option to explore the Royal Botanical Garden (additional charge applies). Come evening, head out on a sightseeing tour of Kandy, taking in the batik factory and local market.

Day 6: Kandy - Dambulla

Make tracks for the Habarana region, via some of Sri Lanka's most famous sights. Visit the spice garden at batik factory in Matale, as well as the awe-inspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dambulla Cave Temple, a complex of five chambers with over 150 images of Buddha. Afterwards, spend time in fascinating Sigiriya, where you’ll venture out on a village trek. Discover how local villagers go about their daily life, observe wildlife and agriculture, and pick fresh vegetables with the help of a farmer, before joining in the preparation of a simple meal.

Distance from Kandy: 100km

Day 7: Dambulla - Colombo

Experience what, for many, is the peak of any Sri Lanka adventure with a trip to the towering Sigiriya ‘Lion Rock’ fortress, a citadel with impressive water gardens and frescoes. You'll also make a stop at Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya, a significant Buddhist temple.

Distance from Habarana: 150km

Day 8-12: Colombo - Maldives

Your private tour ends with a transfer back to the airport for your flight to the Maldives. This scattering of remote atolls in the Indian Ocean is pure paradise, home to a shimmering array of exotic marine life and countless unspoilt islands ringed by clear lagoons. You’ll travel by seaplane to the only resort in the far-flung Faafu Atoll - so as away-from-it-all escapes go, this one is hard to beat. Experience utter tranquility combined with the ease of all-inclusive dining at Filitheyo Island Resort, where you'll be treated to an island-hopping excursion, plus a sunrise or sunset fishing trip.

Distance from Colombo to Bandaranaike International airport: 25km
